New Name: The Trails at Carmel Mountain Ranch

Initial Project Plans Under Review by the City of San Diego

The last several months have been largely dedicated to gathering input from the members of the public, the Carmel Mountain Ranch / Sabre Springs (CMR/SS) Community Council and subcommittee, and technical experts.

Throughout this process, we have heard from our neighbors that connectivity is key for the future of CMR. We're excited about this shared vision and have aptly named our proposal The Trails at Carmel Mountain Ranch.

After presenting our early vision for The Trails to the CMR/SS Community Council on November 13, the project team submitted initial project plans to the City.

City Staff has begun working through their initial review. Once this initial review is finished, the project plans will be provided to the CMR/SS Community Council for review. This is expected to be in the first quarter of 2020.

In the meantime, the project team will continue to attend CMR/SS Community Council and subcommittee meetings to provide updates and answer questions from the community. For more information on the project review process, please see the link below:

San Diego Planning Commission Approves the Initiation of a Plan for Carmel Mountain Golf Course

On July 25, 2019, the City of San Diego Planning Commission initiated the possible amendment to the Carmel Mountain Ranch Community Plan to redesignate a 167-acre site located on the former Carmel Mountain Ranch Golf Course, from Private Recreation-Golf Course to Low-Medium Residential, Medium Residential, Park and Open Space uses.

This initiation does not constitute an endorsement of a project proposal. This action allows the future development project to become a complete submittal and will allow staff analysis to proceed.

Planning Commission has directed staff to consider the following issues as part of the resolution to initiate the amendment:
